Jamaat-i-Islami secretary-general Syed Munawar Hasan has said the issue of Kalabagh had been raised by the military ruler to deviate the attention of masses from real issue of rehabilitation of quake-hit people.

Addressing a gathering at Mansoora on Friday, Munawar maintained that General Musharraf was afraid that nation may hold him accountable for not taking it into confidence about the receipt of donations in quake relief fund.

He condemned the deportation of foreign students of religious madaris who were studying here after fulfilling all legal and immigration requirements. He said people of Kashmir and Pakistan would reject the outcome of current back-door diplomacy on Kashmir if it fell short of right to self-determination of the Kashmiris. He said those making announcements about retaining the uniform even after 2007 should keep in mind the outcome of the final showdown with the enraged masses.
